When Our Self-Care is Broken

Published on: 21st July, 2024

Often, we can feel 'broken'. Sounds a bit dull right? Especially when there are a lot of messages out there telling that us that we aren’t broken at all. Yet amidst the emotions, hormones, rage, PND, and pressures of parenting…it can feel like we’re mucking up left, right, and centre. What does this mean when it comes to self-care? How can we fix ourselves, or at least increase our ability to deal with the overwhelm? Jill and Linda are curious to know if it is possible so we explore this topic further in this conversation and talk about:

  • Hitting rock bottom and making it through to the other side, with an expansion and growth to boot!
  • Open and honest vulnerability about how we sometimes struggle to fit in our own self-care time.
  • Using our calendar and planning to stack out some non-negotiables.
  • Overplanning mode and falling into the mode of busy-ness and the feeling of doing something.
  • When things don’t work the way we plan and the resilience we can build as part of that journey and acceptance of frustration or upset that it can sometimes cause.

We all can get into a funk and it is common to feel that our self-care is broken.

We would love to hear from you, it always encourages us to know you are listening along! Please reach out to us at muckedupmyselfcarepodcast@gmail.com with any questions, suggestions, or comments from this episode.

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
