Pat on the Back Self-Care

Published on: 28th July, 2024

What does it look like to pat yourself on your back? Is it easier for you to pat someone else on the back? Let's be honest for a hot minute, being a mama is a role that can be quite demanding and exhausting. It’s easy to put everyone else’s needs before our own, leaving us drained and sometimes even feeling guilty for wanting just a little bit of "me time." But the truth is, self-care isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. Jill and Linda discuss the concept of pat on the back self-care and talk about themes such as:

  • Why we deserve self-care
  • Recharging your batteries. You’ll not be able to give your best to those who need you without some acknowledgement and acceptance.
  • Integrating self-care into our lives by starting small. You don't have to overhaul your routine overnight. Begin by carving out small pockets of time dedicated to you, whether it's enjoying a cup of coffee in peace or reading a few pages of a great book.
  • The importance of physical movement and activity.
  • One of the biggest barriers to self-care is guilt. Pat addresses this by encouraging us to reframe our thinking.

Self-care is about more than just treating ourselves; it's about preserving our health and happiness. By making self-care a priority, we’re not only investing in our well-being but also setting a positive example for our children.

We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
