Self-Responsibility or Self-Neglect When it Comes to Self-Care

Published on: 7th January, 2024

When we think about self-responsibility vs self-neglect there are several ways it can come into our existence as mamas. Today on the podcast, Jill and Linda are exploring the two concepts together in discussion as they love to on the Mucked Up My Self-Care podcast. Listen in as we chat about:

  • Parmesan cheese in the cutlery drawer, yep it's a real thing and should it be our responsibility?
  • We talk about self-responsibility and self-neglect side by side and owning up to our own selves.
  • Mothering the mother. Should it have a lifespan and do we want to completely mother ourselves all the time, especially while mothering others.
  • Owning our feelings and emotions as our own and communicating to others effectively.
  • The varying degrees of tiredness and attached meanings to words and perceptions from others around us.
  • The importance of our habits and what we are modelling for our children.
  • Push pull of time commitments and pain points of competing priorities.
  • Sabotage. It’s a dirty word that creeps up on all of us.

Do you relate? These conversations are here to shift and shake us into change. We would love to hear from you, it always encourages us to know you are listening along!

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
