Reflections on Self-Care for Mother's Day

Published on: 21st May, 2023

The Podcast is out and about! Hurrah. Linda and Jill are as upbeat and enthusiastic as their theme song music and ready to get stuck in. Listen in as we reflect on our most recent Mother's Day experiences for 2023 and what that meant for both of us. We chat about:

  • Alone time! What is this thing you speak of? How times are changing and what that looks like right now.
  • Mental load. Yep. Another buzz word, yet a significant topic to discuss as we find out.
  • Realizations of defensiveness and reactivity. After things going so smoothly, the reality of the load of the day and what can happen in what feels like a blink of the eye.
  • Putting effort into being taken care of. What does that look like? Will the bathroom ever smell the same again with boys and their stank?
  • Checking in on ourselves. Trying not to compare as we prioritize and negotiate through the day.

We certainly hope we are still sticking around on Mother's Day again next year! We would love to hear what you think and any ways that you are taking care of or mucking up your self-care.

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
