Is Putting Yourself First Self-Care?

Published on: 5th November, 2023

In theory, a mama’s needs are just as important as everyone else's. Yet, even with this theory in mind, Jill and Linda often find themselves swamped and mucked all the way up when they prioritize themselves. How can we navigate this and what are we doing about it? You can find out what we talk about inside this episode as we discuss:

  • The ebbs and flows of neglecting our needs and also when we can prioritize them. How we can do small things like reading when the kids are reading or running alongside their bikes if we’re feeling up to it!
  • Routines and rituals that help us put ourselves first.
  • Boundary setting and the uncomfortable side of putting limits in place.
  • How our core values can change as we become parents. Discovering ourselves again with the changes that are inevitably happening and changes that mean we are not putting ourselves first.
  • Some practical things that have helped us along the way.

We agree, that it can be hard to put ourselves first at many times and would love to acknowledge you if you also find it hard.

We would love to hear what you think and any ways that you are taking care of or mucking up your self-care. It always encourages us to know you are listening along!

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
