How Have Hormones Changed How You Practice Self-Care

Published on: 3rd September, 2023

Hormones. The fluctuations and barrage of emotions that come alongside can feel like anything but self-care. Often our cycles can be affected by stress, health, and a mystery of other aspects that can feel out of our control. Jill and Linda have a real and raw discussion about what that looks like in their lives right now, while also feeling the onset of hormones as we recorded this episode. We chat about:

  • How we might have to take care of ourselves differently when our hormones and cycles are changing.
  • When cycles sync with friends, moons, and other life events. Proven or not proven?
  • Different self-care practices for different parts of our cycles.
  • Tracking cycles and how bandwidth is affected in different areas of the month.
  • Emotional self-care and health.
  • Can we really maintain the same level of consistency at every day of the month, especially with so many different demands of motherhood?
  • Smooth and velvety ice-cream. Sometimes it’s the brief answer to many of our hormonal prayers.

We would love to hear from you, it always encourages us to know you are listening along!

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
