Why is Self-Care So Hard? (Part One)

Published on: 17th November, 2024

Why can self-care be so difficult to maintain? Should it really be this hard? Jill and Linda still wonder about these questions, even after 82 episodes of talking openly about these questions. Today's episode is no different, as we dive into the challenges and hard side of self-care. Take a listen as we chat about:

  • All the different things we need to do before we can do something.
  • The self-talk about how hard it is and how much this can cause a delay.
  • Freedom to get up and go do something for ourselves, the changes and shifts that happen as mothers in this regard and for our self-care.
  • Competing priorities and needs. Especially when we are at the stage where we are feeling like it is hard to manage and need to get some self-care time.
  • Making self-care second nature and more of a habit, rather than another thing to remember.

We hope this conversation encourages you to remember that self-care isn't always easy and even small acts of self-care can make a big difference. We look forward to joining you for part two next week!

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
