Episode 86

Building our Self-Care Resilience

Published on: 15th December, 2024

This week, Jill and Linda dive into the messy, often interrupted journey of building resilience as moms and how self-care plays a pivotal role. From car troubles to toddler birthday cake improvisations, we share the highs and lows of parenting and how embracing imperfection helps us grow stronger. Here’s what we unpack in this episode:

  • How self-care is not just about pampering but building the emotional and physical stamina to handle life's chaos.
  • Sharing the realities of parenting wins and setbacks, including creative cake fixes and resting through sickness.
  • How setting personal incentives can help us prioritize self-care amidst busy schedules, and why boundaries matter for moms and kids alike.
  • Navigating tantrums, hunger-fueled emotions, and how meeting basic needs connects to emotional resilience.
  • Balancing emotional expression with boundaries and learning to parent while reparenting ourselves.

Resilience doesn’t mean avoiding emotions but learning to navigate them. Sometimes, having snacks at the ready (for kids and moms alike!) can be a game-changer.

About the Podcast

Mucked Up My Self-Care Podcast
Real, Raw and Unedited Conversations From Two Global Moms/Mums
A podcast for moms about the real, raw, and unscripted perspectives of guilt-free self-care by two moms across the globe. This unedited podcast is real life and their personal experiences told in friendly conversation style. Advocating for all moms who have mucked up their self care.

There are so many others out there that aren't successfully solving the real problem of trying to figure out what self-care is. We want to bring to light the reality of what self-care can look like for moms who struggle to fit it in, don't know what will work for them, and the ways that it hasn't worked. We want to have conversations about the guilt we feel when we are pressured to mother ourselves when we don't know how and aren't given the support to in our society today.
